2008 Annual Salary Survey
Thank you for participating in the online, interactive annual salary survey. Your yearly response to the salary survey allows MTA to provide the most up-to-date and comprehensive salary information available to Michigan township officials. We certainly couldn't accomplish this without your assistance. We have made it easier than ever to complete and return the survey.
If your township has no additional changes to report after completing the board member salaries section, and your township responded in 2007, simply check the box in the middle of the first page that notates "NO OTHER changes" and click the submit button at the top or bottom of the survey. Your done! If you have more salaries to report, complete the information before submitting the form.
We've added two new positions, liquor inspector and transfer station attendant, to our growing list of appointive and employee positions. Fire board has been added to our list of boards and commissions. When selecting how a position is paid, (PP) Per Parcel, (PI) Per Inspection, and (PE) Per Election have been added to your choices. And the entry for "supervisor/assessor" in the elected officials section of the survey has changed.
When the supervisor is the township assessor, some townships establish one salary for both positions; others establish a salary for supervisor and another salary for assessor, although the same person is doing both jobs. Enter a "lump sum" on the line indicated if one salary is established for both positions. If two salaries are established, enter the supervisor's salary on the indicated line and enter the assessor's salary on the line indicating "two-part salary." All other assessor salaries should be entered in the lower section of page one, below the elected officials.
When you've completed the survey, you can request a salary comparison report comparing wages in your township to other townships throughout the state with similar SEV, or population. You can also request a salary report for all townships in your county.
If you have any questions regarding the survey or want to request a salary comparison report, contact Tammie Underhill, MTA Member Information aide, at (517) 321-6467. Or send an email with your questions or request.
