Delta Charter Township (Eaton Co.)

From Monday, January 23, 2012 through Friday, February 24, 2012, the Manager's Office will be accepting applications for the full-time position of Parks, Recreation, and Cemeteries Director.

 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation Administration or a closely related field required.
• Minimum of six to eight years experience in parks and recreation management is required (an equivalent of education and experience that meets the minimum requirements may be substituted).

• Requires knowledge in a variety of operational areas including parks maintenance, cemetery operation, and recreation programming. 

• Must possess and maintain valid driver's license.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

 

Responsibilities

• Oversees, directs, and coordinates the development and implementation of the Township's recreation and sports programming; works in cooperation with the school districts, various associations, and other groups to maximize participation and identify and satisfy service needs and demand.
• Administers service areas including maintenance operations, cemetery services and upkeep, and recreation programming; manages departmental employees by screening and recommending for hire, providing developmental opportunities, supervising, and appraising performance annually.
• Assists the Parks Commission in developing and implementing recreation growth strategies; prepares plans for acquisition, development, and use of park and cemetery land; determines related operational needs and likely service impact; and investigates other pertinent issues.
• Serves as the Township's Sexton; oversees the maintenance of records of cemetery lot ownership and burial and is responsible for lot sales; oversees cemetery maintenance including burial services.

Benefits/Work Schedule:

• Health, dental, life, and disability insurance provided; pension after six months of employment. Option to participate in deferred compensation plan, health savings account, flexible spending account, and vision insurance.
• Full-time position - primarily Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Flexibility in work schedule including working evenings or weekends may be required.

Compensation:

• $68,981 - $89,678 DOQ

• Bachelor's degree in urban and regional planning, urban design, or a closely related field required.
• Minimum of one year experience in planning and development in a municipal environment is required (an equivalent of education and experience that meets the minimum requirements may be substituted).
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office and ArcGIS software.
• Must possess and maintain valid driver's license.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assists township residents, developers, architects, and engineers in understanding and applying zoning and other ordinance requirements.
• Prepares staff reports related to site plan reviews, special use permits, rezonings, plat reviews, requests for variance, and other regulated activities.
• Reviews submitted plans for zoning compliance.
