FINANCE DIRECTOR

Grand Haven Charter Township (Ottawa Co.) is accepting applications for a finance director. The person selected will be under the general supervision of the township superintendent and will work closely with both the elected clerk and treasurer. The successful candidate will manage the finance department, including the immediate supervision of two finance staff. A four-year college degree in Accounting, a minimum of five (5) years experience in the accounting field, and experience in governmental accounting, including a working knowledge of GASB, is required.  Examples of responsibilities include the following:

  • Oversee all data and reporting from the finance department.  
  • Establish and monitor internal controls and procedures.
  • Coordinate preparation of various financial statements and reports on a timely basis.
  • Responsible for coordination of annual financial audit.
  • Responsible for investment and tracking of cash funds.
  • May be appointed as the deputy treasurer.
  • Prepare tax rolls and track taxable values in tax increment financing (TIF) districts.
  • Distribute property tax monies to the appropriate agencies and complete property tax settlements.
  • Reconcile bank statements and other accounts.
  • Coordinate aspects of both the purchase and payment of bonds.
  • Track and collect delinquent personal property taxes.  

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, experience with BS&A government software a "plus." The successful candidate must possess skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, elected officials and the general public, and must be organized and detail-oriented with the ability to meet specific deadlines in a sometimes stressful work environment. TOWNSHIP SUPERINTENDENT (MANAGER)

Gaines Charter Township (Kent Co.), is accepting written applications only for this newly created position. The current population is approximately 22,500, with an annual general fund budget of $2,900,000. Possession of a bachelor's degree or its equivalent in public administration, or a related field with a minimum of five years of progressively more responsible administrative experience in municipal government, or ten years of work covering most job duties related to township government. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Grant writing experience, labor negotiations, knowledge of governmental accounting and business management is desirable. Other combinations of education and experience, which could provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform this position, may be considered. WASTEWATER PLANT MANAGER

The Paw Paw Lake Area Joint Sewage Disposal Board (PPLA) is currently accepting employment applications for the position of plant manager of the PPLA WWTP. The qualified candidate will have a minimum of five years in a responsible role (two in management) at a wastewater treatment facility, and must possess a Michigan Class A or B Wastewater Certification at a minimum. Duties and responsibilities include oversight of plant processes, maintenance activities, laboratory operations and biosolids treatment and disposal.  Additionally, the successful candidate must have acceptable knowledge and experience in the areas of budgeting, capital planning, administrative and personnel functions. The salary range is mid-$60,000 with a benefits package.
