The MTA influences legislation, policy and regulations by representing townships before the Legislature, the executive office and state agencies. The MTA staff initiates and monitors legislation that is in the best interest of townships and follows it through the committee meetings, hearings and legislative sessions that precede its passage. Member townships are kept informed of the status of legislation through the monthly publication
Capitol Currents and via
Weekly Legislative Reports, sent when the Legislature is session or when immediate legislative action is needed. MTA appears before legislative standing and special committees and represents townships on numerous statewide task forces.
