Historic Commission

Authorizing Statute:
Municipal Historical Commissions Act, Public Act 213 of 1957,
MCL 399.171 to 399.172

Authorities and Responsibilities:
A city, village, township, or county creating a historical commission may issue revenue bonds pursuant to the Revenue Bond Act, Public Act 94 of 1933, MCL 141.101, et seq., for carrying out the functions of the commission.

Established By:
The governing body of a city, village, township, or county, or any combination thereof acting jointly, may create by ordinance a historical commission, provide for its appointment, and prescribe its functions.

Public body subject to Open Meetings Act and Freedom of Information Act.
