Authorizing Statute:Municipal Sewage and Water Supply Systems Act, Public Act 233 of 1955, MCL 124.281,
et seq.
Authorities and Responsibilities: Authority to acquire, own, improve, enlarge, extend, and operate a sewage disposal system, water supply system or solid waste disposal system.
May enter into contracts with its incorporating municipalities for a water, sewage or solid waste system and the payment of costs. It may issue bonds to construct the system.
Established By:Two or more municipalities may incorporate an authority by adopting articles or incorporation that must be published at least once. The articles must state the purpose for which it is created; the powers, duties and limitations of the authority and its officers; the method of selecting its governing body, officers and employees; the person in charge of publishing the articles and filing the same; and any other matters the incorporators deem advisable.
