The simplest key to navigating the MTA Web site is to look for "live" buttons, menus, text, and pictures that respond when you move your mouse over them. We've packed the Web site with these live links to give you many ways to find information. For example, if you move your mouse over the picture just above this paragraph, you'll see your mouse pointer change into a pointing hand. Click on the picture, and you'll see an enlarged version with a caption.
MenusIf you move your mouse over the six, colored buttons along the top of each page, "drop-down menus" will appear. Each menu contains information geared toward MTA members.
If you move your mouse over the "tab-like" buttons on the left side of each page, "fly-out menus" will appear that are designed to assist visitors like residents, legislators, vendors and the media.
CalendarThe calendar on the right side of the homepage displays upcoming MTA events as well as important dates and reminders for Michigan townships.
Site SearchPerhaps the fastest way to find information is the "Site Search" window in the upper right corner of each page. Just enter a key word, and click "Site Search" or hit the enter key on your computer.
Log In and RegisterFor more information on the "log in" and "register" functions, please refer to the link on the home page called "
What is 'My MTA'?." (
Tip: Move your mouse over the blue underlined type and watch it change into a pointing hand. Click it and your screen will change to the "What is 'My MTA'?" page.)
Finding a TownshipTo find a township and learn more about the elected officials and their local unit of government, click the "Find a Township" link on the left side of the home page. There, users can click on several different options for searching for township governments. Users can select to search by township, county or by alphabetical order (under the "alternate search page). Users can also generate local maps of a township with several types of overlay data available.
Using the Township MapsThere are a number of interactive maps on the MTA Web site. To start your search for maps, first navigate to the "Maps and Data" page under the "Member Information" link. Here you will find the listing of maps available on the Web site. Click through to the type of map you would like, and the maps will launch in a new browser window. From within the mapping interface, you can zoom and measure, overlay different layers of data, and search by township or county. For more map help, click on the question mark in the upper right corner of the map page.
Email the MTA if you have questions about using this Web site.
