General Maintenance Worker

GENERAL MAINTENANCE WORKER I

General Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Department of Public Works Supervisor, the following tasks will be performed:

Typical Duties:

l. Assist in the development of township recreational lands, including construction and maintenance of outdoor ice rinks, softball fields, playgrounds, soccer fields, tennis courts, roadways, parking areas, picnic grounds, dock construction, streambank stabilization, and vehicle maintenance.

2. Is trained in the monitoring and maintenance of pump stations, grinder stations and collector system of the sanitary sewer system.

3. Performs custodial duties and maintenance on township facilities and grounds.

4. Cleans walls, floors, ceilings, windows, fixtures in all township buildings.

5. May be required to paint or varnish where necessary to maintain the appearance of buildings, fixtures and equipment.

6. Mows grass, rakes, seeds, does brushing as required.

7. Shovels snow and otherwise keeps walkways in a safe condition.

8. Maintenance of outdoor ice rink.

9. Will be required to do routine supervision of the Department in the DPW Supervisor’s absence. All other major matters of interest to the DPW Department will be immediately brought to the attention of the Township Supervisor in the absence of the DPW Supervisor.

10. Performs maintenance and repairs on all equipment.

11. Services recycling drop off sites.

12. Maintains CPR and First Aid certificate for confined space requirement.
