2022 Board of Review Training to offer in-person and virtual options

Public Act 660 of 2018 requires that every township board of review member (alternates too!) complete training by the end of 2022, regardless your years of experience. MTA can help! This February, we’ll be offering half-day classes both online AND in person at 12 locations across the state. Registration materials were mailed to every township in December and forms also appear in your January Township Focus magazine.

Important Details about MTA's Virtual Board of Review Training

Instructions on how to sign in and participate in class will be emailed to registrants one week prior to each session. These details will also be posted online here in February, along with tech tips and other resources. Handouts will be available for download/printing in advance of the event (must be pre-registered to access; login required).

Other key tips and details:

  • Each registrant who wishes to access the training individually MUST have an email on file with MTA. You may add it here yourself prior to registration (login required). Township clerks may also update registrant profiles; click here for instructions.
  • We suggest that you download Zoom on the computer being used for the training before the day of the class you plan to attend. Visit https://zoom.us/download to get started.
  • Note that participants MUST be visible on camera for the entire class and complete a class activity or quiz to meet training requirements. (Affidavits will not be allowed; a webcam is required to get credit.) Details will be provided in the email sent a week before class.

Viewing as a group? All participants must be pre-registered with MTA. At least one registrant must have an email on file with MTA to use for login. A Group Sign-in Sheet, which will be provided in the confirmation and posted here, must be signed by all participants, and by the individual (supervisor/assessor/local official) designated to verify attendance. Each participant must also complete the quiz or interactive activity. Additional instructions will be posted here and emailed to registrants closer to class dates.

MTA Policies: Change of plans? Notice is not required to switch dates (online only); should your schedule change, simply login and attend another live date (shown above). You may substitute another individual from your township for your registration at no charge, please notify MTA as soon as possible. Substitutions made with less than three business days’ notice may experience a delay in access. In the event both the original and substituted registrants login to the event, the township will be charged for both registrants. Emailed or faxed cancellation requests received at the MTA office at least one week prior to the event date will receive a full refund. Otherwise, a $25 administrative fee will be assessed.
